Study notes
When the whole earth speaks one language, people make bricks and plan to build a city with a tower reaching the sky to make a name for themselves. Yahweh confuses their language and scatters them across the earth, and the city is called Babel.
From Genesis 11:1 (KoS), Genesis 11:3 (KoS), Genesis 11:4 (KoS), Genesis 11:9 (KoS).

They said to one another, “Come, let us make bricks and bake them thoroughly.” They had brick for stone, and they had asphalt for mortar.
-
What reasons do the builders give for building their city and tower?
They said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, and a tower with its top in the sky, and let us make a name for ourselves, so that we are not scattered over the face of the whole earth.”
-
What does Yahweh say about the people, and what does he decide to do about their language?
Yahweh said, “Look, one people, and one language for all of them, and this is what they have started to do. Now nothing they plan to do will be out of their reach. Come, let us go down and confuse their language there, so that they will not understand one another’s language.”
